WW2 audit

Each official figure, the source it comes from, our roll’s count, and the gap. A green tick shows where two independent sources agree.

How to read this

Our count comes from the The Anzacs WW2 Roll Call, which is still a small first roll, so the gaps are large on purpose: they show how much is still to come. War dead on our roll are people whose death date falls in the Roll of Honour period, 3 September 1939 to 31 December 1947 (NZHistory). A tick needs two sources from different publishers giving the same number. NZHistory and Te Ara are both Manatū Taonga sites, so they do not count as independent.

Campaign and troopship rows will fill in once per-person service records arrive. We will not count echelons or convoys from memory; each ship row needs a cited sailing list.
